Robert “Bob” Francis Gilmore (79), ended his battle with cancer on May 6, 2026, and departed for his greatest journey yet. Bob leaves behind a lifetime of incredible stories and a family who will always remember his humor, sense of adventure, and deep love for Christ.
Robert Francis Gilmore was born alongside his twin brother, John Paul, on December 27, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska. After 29 years of marriage, Bob is survived by his loving wife, Marian S. Gilmore. He also leaves behind his beloved children, Erica K. Jenkins, and Grant R. Gilmore, from his previous marriage to Jerri L. McKimmey, as well as his stepdaughter, Laura L. Davies, Marian’s daughter. Bobby’s 3 children will always carry forward the “whatever” spirit Bobby brought into their lives- a reminder of his unique sense of humor.
Bob excelled as a Yellow Pages salesman for 33 years with the telephone company. In retirement, he volunteered with the American Red Cross as a disaster relief worker and received the distinguished Volunteer of the Year award in both Denver, Colorado, and Nashville, Tennessee.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a devoted “Big Red” Nebraska Cornhuskers football aficionado. While Bob will never be forgotten, and leaves behind five beautiful grandchildren; Nash Jenkins (19), Nate Fobes (18), Kinslee Gilmore (14), Braxton Davies (12), and Emmett Davies (11). His family finds comfort in knowing he is with the Lord.
