Your son will be exposed to a four-year developmental journey guided by the five philosophical tenets of the Balanced Man Program (BMP): Equal Rights and Responsibilities, Continuous Development, Accountability, Living the Ritual, and Mentoring. This structure ensures he is treated as an adult peer, challenged to grow constantly, held to a high moral standard, and supported by professional mentors throughout his time at UNO.

• Equal Rights and Responsibilities: From his first day, your son is a full member with a vote and a voice. He will be treated as an equal partner in the chapter, which fosters immediate accountability and leadership.
• Continuous Development: The experience is broken into four 'challenges' (Sigma, Phi, Epsilon, and Brother Mentor). As he progresses through his years at UNO, the program evolves with him, moving from adjusting to college life to preparing for his professional career.
• Accountability: We use a 'Challenge' system where members must meet specific academic, service, and personal goals to advance. This ensures that every man in the chapter is actively contributing and growing, rather than just 'belonging.'
• Living the Ritual: For many, a fraternity ritual is something that only happens once a semester behind closed doors. At SigEp, we believe the Ritual only has value if it is lived daily. This means that the values of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love are integrated into how our members treat others on the UNO campus, how they conduct themselves in the classroom, and how they lead in the Omaha community.
• Mentoring: The SigEp experience is not 'the blind leading the blind.' Through our Mentoring tenet, we pair undergraduate members with dedicated alumni volunteers, faculty advisors, and/or faculty fellows. This ensures that every member has a seasoned guide to help them navigate college challenges, career planning, and personal goal-setting. It turns the fraternity into a professional network from day one.

Ultimately, he is being exposed to a 'leadership laboratory' where he can practice managing budgets, leading teams, and organizing community events all within the safety net of a values-based brotherhood.

Academics are our first priority. Our chapter's chartering goal is to maintain a GPA higher than the UNO all-men's average. We offer structured study hours and academic mentorship for all members. UNO SigEp's Vice President of SigEp Learning Community and Vice President of Member Development work alongside members of the fraternity to focus on supporting an environment where academic success and organizational and individual development guide members to become balanced men for the world's communities.

New member semester dues are approximately $520.00, which covers national liability insurance, on-site National Fraternity staff support, a lifetime subscription to the SigEp Journal (the official magazine of the Fraternity), and local programming.

Subsequent semesters are $520.00 which covers chapter-voted initiatives, social exchanges, formals, and more. We offer payment plans to ensure the experience is accessible.

No. SigEp abolished pledging in 1991. Every member is a full member from day one. Our "Balanced Man Program" focuses on continuous development rather than "earning" membership through a probationary period.

The Balanced Man Program (BMP) is our roadmap for your four years at UNO. Unlike other groups that have a "pledge period" followed by... nothing, SigEp is a continuous journey. You start as a Sigma, move to Phi, then Epsilon, and finally Brother Mentor. Each stage challenges you to grow in leadership, academics, and fitness.

Zero. We believe "Equal Rights and Responsibilities" means you shouldn't have to "earn" your way into a brotherhood through menial tasks. If we invite you to join, we already believe you're a brother. You have a vote and a voice from day one.
